HRRL Mad March 20m, Dunsfold Park 10km and British Masters Cross-Country Championships

HRRL Mad March 20m

As part of their marathon build-up a five strong Farnham Runners contingent took part in the Mad March 20 miler organised by Christchurch Runners. All gained personal best positions or competed at this distance for the first time.

The men’s team placed 7th and are lying 6th in Division One of the Hampshire Road Race League. Dan Smith maintained an impressive 6.43 minutes per mile pace to finish 28th senior man in 2.14.28 and he is 10th in the individual table of the Hampshire League to date. Steve Murphy ran just over 7 minute pace to take 37th M40 slot in 2.21.30 while Andy Tweed put aside injury worries to finish in 2.34.31.

Don Melvin was delighted with 2.42.00 in his first 20 miler as was Nicolette Overy who deducted a huge 7.5 minutes from her PB (2.44.55, 17th W40).

Other races

Michael Rix and Mark Taylor were among the prizewinners in the Dunsfold Park 10km; Rix 4th of 465 finishers in 36.03 and Taylor 8th in 37.17 despite windy conditions.

Jane Georghiou represented Farnham Runners in the British Masters Cross-Country Championships at Bournemouth, finishing 5th W50 in 24.35 over the 6km course.
