With a lead of 5 points after the penultimate race, the Netley 10k, Farnham Runners men have high hopes not only of gaining promotion but of topping Division 2 of the Hampshire Road League.

Just ten members made the trek to Southampton but seven of them recorded top ten age group placings.

They were led by Tim Cummins, who was delighted with a new personal best of 40minutes 10 seconds as 9th M40. This gave them 4th in Division 2 on the day. In support came Peter Chapman in 46:27.

Eloise Stradling added another first place for Farnham to her tally, in 44:47 as 10th senior lady. Nest was Jane Georghiou, her 46:22, put her 2nd W60, with Tara Hunt taking the final “A” scoring place in 48:57 as 9th W40. Their 6th place on the day keeps them 6th in Division One.

Tina Harrison (50:59, 4th W50) and Mary Denise Fitzgerald in 51:43 made an incomplete B string that placed 11th of the 14 teams but still 6th on aggregate.

The “D Day” 10km at Portsmouth on 5th June will determine the final team and individual placings in the league.
