HRRL Ryde 10 miles and the Stubbington Green 10k
HRRL Ryde 10 miles

An impressive 24 runners braved ferries, hovercrafts, hills, and horizontal rain to reach the Isle of Wight — with a brief burst of sunshine that almost felt tropical.
The sunshine didn’t last, however, as heavy rain set in during the race. The hills weren’t any easier than previous years, with a long steep climb near the start and another around mile six.
Never-the-less, Farnham Runners secured some excellent results, with two winning their age groups and five in the top three. They had full teams for all three men’s and ladies’ Hampshire Road League tables and all who ran will have contributed to the team results.
Lizzie May raced to be 2nd lady as well as 2nd in the senior ladies’ category, in an excellent time of 1:05:48. This was new personal best for Lizzie and she recorded a new senior ladies’ club record, beating one that has stood since 1991!
Joe Collins was an impressive 10th overall and 7th senior man, dipping under the hour in 59:09 on this challenging course.
Second to cross the line was Alex Elsey in a fine 1:03:26, while Matt Saker was 3rd M55 in 1:06:36. Completing the men’s A team was Sam Angell in a personal best 1:09:04.
Tony Jones led in the B team as 3rd M60 in 1:09:40, followed by Nick Grist in 1:10:33, Ivan Chunnett in 1:12:59 and Charles Ashby in 1:13:15.
Keith Marshall led in the third team and won the M65 category in 1:13:17, with James Goodwin in 1:17:05, David Whittle in 1:20:59 (in his first 10mile road race) and Robert Peet in 1:25:01completing the score.
For the ladies, after Lizzie May, were Gabi Hitchcock, 4th F45, in 1:15:55, Linda Tyler (first F65 and new age group club record) in 1:16:29 and Gemma Whitehouse in a new PB of 1:18:32.
New member Debbie Tully headed the B team in 1:18:56, backed up by Georgie Abrook, 2nd F55 in 1:21:49, Billy McCulloch, 4th F55 in 1:25:52 and Sarah Franklin in 1:29:06.
The third ladies’ team comprised Kelly Lincoln in 1:32:03, Colette Grist in 1:36:48, Penny Schnabel, 3rd F65 in 1:41:07 and Julia Tagg, 5th F65 in 1:48:54.
Many runners celebrated with fish & chips on their way back to the ferry.
Stubbington Green 10k

Though not a Hampshire Road Race this year, 17 members travelled to Stubbington Green for the 10km and enjoyed reasonable weather for January.
Six Farnham Runners were in top ten of their age group in this competitive race with 1869 finishers, with Linda Tyler winning the F65 category.
