Twelve Farnham Runners took part in the second Today’s Runner Winter League cross-country race of the season at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

Dan Smith, the men’s team captain, was first Farnham man over the line in a superb fifth place. He was followed by Charles Ashby who ran strongly throughout on the muddy, root-riddled course to finish 16th.

An ever improving Tim Clover took third team place (41st), followed closely by Jim Bosworth (44th) and Terry Steadman (48th) who completed the team. Don Melvin produced another strong run finishing 118th.

Lindsay Bamford, was first Farnham lady home in 22nd place, overtaking both Jo Edson (27th) and Amanda Allen (38th). Amanda was deligthed to complete the ladies’ scoring team of three, having been ‘volunteered’ at 9.30 that morning by team-mates who persuaded her to forgo her usual Sunday run and race instead.

Julie Russ (65th), Gill Kenny (87th) and Michele Dixon (90th) were all pleased with their places in a particularly strong ladies’ field.
