HRRL Eastleigh 10K
Farnham Runners used the renowned fast flat course of the Eastleigh 10km to post some excellent times. The men lie a strong 6th in |Division One out of the ten Hampshire Road Race League teams and took fifth in this race. The ladies took third in Division Two and are third overall but a good team at Totton should see them gain promotion to Division One for next year.
Mark Taylor led in the men with a superb personal best of 35.13. His 57th place just shows the high standard in this race. Mike Anderson sped round for a splendid new club M50 record of 35.46 and he was 3rd M50 despite the keen competition. Stuart Morgan made a welcome return to racing with an excellent 37.15 while Charles Ashby posted 38.40, not bad considering he had run 20 miles the previous day! These four made up the Hampshire Road Race League “A” team.
Steve Gillingham and Colin Addison spurred each other on for 39.25 and 39.30 respectively, Colin delighted to dip under 40 mins for the first time. Andy Tweed recorded 41.51 and a beaming Tim Cummins claimed another PB with 43.29 and a place in the “B” team. Not far behind Don Melvin continued his steady improvement with 43.47. David Armstrong (44.28), Howard Inns (46.05 PB) Steve Payne (46.50) and Bob Brimicombe (54.29) all posted good times.
