HRRL Solent Half Marathon, Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon and Abingdon Marathon

Farnham Runners who ran the Solent Half Marathon and Abingdon Marathon enjoyed ideal weather.

HRRL – Solent Half Marathon

The Farnham men at Solent consolidated their safe position of 7th in Division One of the Hampshire Road League with an excellent 5th place of ten on the day. Two ladies supported the team but without a third counter they could not score higher than 10th place in the top flight. Eight races of the 12 in the series count for the ladies and, with only one good score so far, fuller teams are needed for future races.

Andrew Ellison came an impressive 10th of 372 finishers to take the 2nd M40 slot in 1 hour 19 minutes 28 seconds. Ian Carley secured 3rd place in this category in 1-21-23 (20th) while Charles Ashby was 4th M45 in 1-25-05 (33rd). Racing back to full fitness came Mike Walberton in 1-30-54 (76th). Alistair Wilson (1-42-36) and Peter Strange (2-02-00) made an incomplete B team. Lindsay Bamford and Tori Shaw ran well for 1-46-21 and 1-51-25 (a new personal best) respectively.

Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon

Sarah Hill completed another superb sub 3-hour time of 2-59-04 in the Standard Chartered Jersey marathon, despite blustery conditions and was third lady.

Abingdon Marathon

Jason East added to his sub 3 hours too with 2-58-45 (75th of 732) in the Abingdon marathon.

Sussanah Chan put in an excellent performance for a new personal best by 7 minutes for 3-24-37, to place 26th lady and 17th F35.

James Finney recorded 3-37-41, Stash Czapski 4-05-54 and Peter Strange 4-48-16.
