HRRL Stubbington Green 10K

At the Hampshire Road League Stubbington Green 10km there were ideal conditions except for a strong wind that must have impacted on times, though some Farnham Runners still managed personal bests. Seven of the eighteen Farnham Runners achieved top 20 placings in their category. (Results given are chip times.)

Coming back into form after a prolonged injury, Andrew Ellison impressed with an excellent time of 36 minutes 58 seconds for 36th place of 1466 finishers and 7th in the M40 category. Charles Ashby kept with him till the last mile to record 37-15, not far from his personal best, for 11th in the same category.

Mike Walberton now clocks sub 40 minute times without difficulty and was just one second off his PB (39-12, 10th M50), while Martin Billett would have made his sub 40 target without the wind (40-25, 20th M50).

These four gave the A team 4th in Hampshire Road Race League Division Two, but on aggregate they slipped from top to second. This is after 6 events; the final positions for the men will be based on the best 9 races of 12.

Ian Carley, generously pacing others, also clocked 40-25. Nick Hill (41-46) pipped Steve Murphy (41-49) near the line while Mike Ashworth (43-03) was 4th scorer in the B team (9th, aggregate 7th). Tim Withers (44-10) was delighted with another PB, by 2 minutes. Terry Copeland (44-58), John Broy (47-46) and Peter Strange (54-56, 12th M65) helped the C team to 8th (agg 5th).

Returning form injury Susie Chan took things steadily for 44-31, heading Jane Georghiou (44-35, 1st W55) on chip timing. Suzanne Munton (47-23) helped the A team to a useful 5th in Division One, the aggregate staying at 7th. Wendy Carley (50-25) raced for the B team, along with Emma Drinkwater (52-03, PB) and Kay Copeland (53-14) (B Division 1 8th, agg 9th).
