Yateley 10k Race Series

Farnham Runners came home with a haul of medals and prizes from the Yateley 10km race series. These evening races every June, July and August have been popular with members of the club for many years and this year was no exception with over 20 competing in each race. Despite the warm conditions in all three this year some gained new personal bests and all added to their race experience.

Sarah Hill who held the course record from 2000 to 2015 was back in action this year as first lady in two and second in one. In the final race her time was 37 minutes 5 seconds, putting her easily the first Farnham Runner back and taking the F45 category prizes and trophy. Sarah now also excels in ultra-marathons, having recently finished as first lady and second overall in the hilly trail two day 70 mile “Round the Island” on the Isle of Wight.

Emma Pearson, who only days before the August Yateley race had come second lady in the “Midnight Marathon” over the South Downs Way trail path at night in a time was 4 hours 4 minutes 29 seconds secured the series prize as first F45.

Charlotte Hanson was delighted to be third senior lady in the series, while Jane Georghiou who recently ran for an age group silver medal in the British Masters Half Marathon 2018 Championships at Reigate, clinched the series F65 award.

Others from Farnham who did well in their categories in the series were Kay Copeland, Keith Marshall and Ali Hardaway while Linda Tyler and Robert Drummond were highly placed in two of the three.
